CALAGRY, EDMOMTON, VANCOUVER and from OTTAWA
Frances
Lake Wilderness Lodge is situated in the southeast corner of the Yukon
Territory, on the peaceful shores of Frances Lake, amidst a
breathtaking wilderness in the northern foothills of the Canadian
Rockies. With great northern hospitality, the lodge offers a true
respite from traffic, computers, headlines and other stresses of
modern-day life. The lodge is accessible by boat or float plane only.
Take a break and stay a few days to discover the unexpected. The wide
variety of day adventures available includes paddling, boating,
fishing, interpretive nature walks and historic explorations. In fall,
you may even catch the first northern lights of the season.
8-day fly & drive itinerary:
Day 1: From Calgary, Edmonton,
Vancouver, or new also from Ottawa, you'll take Air
North, Yukon's
Airline, to Whitehorse.
Upon arrival, you will pick up your rental car and spend the remainder
of the day at your own leisure. We will have you booked in a nice hotel
in the city.
Day
2: In your rental vehicle, you will leave Whitehorse and
drive east along the legendary Alaska Highway to Watson Lake (450 km).
Here, you may visit the famous Sign Post Forest before you continue
your journey north along the Campbell Highway. It's a well maintained
gravel road that brings you to Frances Lake (170 km). Park your car at
the boat ramp, where we will pick you up by boat and bring you to our
wilderness lodge 20 km down the lake. Make yourself comfortable in your
private, cozy lakeshore log cabin. After a hearty dinner in the main
lodge, you can relax in our comfortable living room or enjoy the lovely
view from your cabin's front porch, looking out across the lake and
into the Logan Mountains.
Days 3 – 6: Your days at Frances
Lake will offer you a wide variety of adventures, which are all
included in your package price. You may enjoy them at your own leisure
or join in on some of our guided activities:
- Guided excursions by boat to the abandoned trading
post of the famous Hudson's Bay Company, old trapper cabins, and scenic
bays, ponds and rivers.
- Canoeing, kayaking, fishing and wildlife watching.
- Interpretive nature walks.
- Short hiking trails, which have been established
near the
lodge for your convenience.
- An open-air rest area with a fire pit, where you
can take in the magnificent view while you relax, chat, read or write.
- A hot shower and wood-heated sauna are available
anytime (with cool-off in the lake ...).
Let yourself be spoiled by our kitchen's delicious
creations, with plenty of fresh produce, locally grown lettuce and
fresh baked goods. And remember: our unique wilderness lodge caters to
only a few guests at a time, offering an experience you will never
forget!
Day 7: It's time to leave this
wonderful place. By boat we will bring you back to your car and you'll
return to Whitehorse. You can either choose the route you already know
or continue along the Campbell Highway westbound via Faro to Carmacks
and then back to Whitehorse. Once in Whitehorse, you'll have a
comfortable hotel room awaiting you.
Day
8: Once again, you'll enjoy the friendly
service on Air North, Yukon's Airline, for your flight home.
